Here are the kids sitting right outside the front gate to the Magic Kingdom. Don't you just love the fact that they're all in shorts and blinded by the sun in November??? It's an Iowa girls dream come true!! LOL.
My little princess....
Matt and I took the kids on Aladdin's Magic Carpet ride, which is very similar to the Dragon ride at Adventureland, but they still had a blast. The little cars had two sets of buttons in which you could raise and lower the "carpet" and then raise and lower the nose. Caleb was a button pushing machine!!
We spent most of the day at Magic Kingdom. Katherine loved Splash Mountain, and Pirates of the Caribbean was one of Caleb's all time favorites... We rode on that thing so many times over the course of the week I can't even count, and each time he squealed in delight and watched with his eyes as wide as saucers!! He finally got the true meaning of his Halloween costume! LOL. I was, however, a little nervous taking him on the Haunted Mansion... I was hoping it wouldn't scare him, and thankfully he took it in stride and wanted to go back through a second, and third, and fourth time!!
Later in the afternoon, we decided to take off for Epcot to go on a few rides before Matt had to leave us for his work dinner. Since our hotel was really close to the back entrance of Epcot, it seemed to work out for the best... We immediately went to Soarin' to check out the wait time and since it was only 45 minutes and Caleb was sleeping, I told them all to go on and I'd wait for them. OK -- The wait was posted at 45 minutes, but guess how long it took them to get through???? AN HOUR AND A HALF! UUUUUGH! Hate the fast passes when you don't have one!! Matt ended up almost being late for dinner. Instead of waiting for the boat, he took off at a dead run from the ride, all the way back to our hotel.
While I was waiting for the crew as they went on Soarin' and Caleb was asleep in his stroller, I walked around "The Land" building. I was on the top floor looking down at the people below, totally lost in my thoughts. All of a sudden, I noticed a middle aged couple with their teenage son, who was confined to a wheelchair, and from the looks of it he was quadriplegic. The mom had brought along her own little blender and made a pureed dinner for her son, who could not eat on his own. They weren't racing from ride to ride. They weren't in a hurry. They weren't interested in running around the park to see every last thing they could. They were just taking care of their son and spending quality time together. I'm not sure why, but just watching the interaction changed my life. Seriously... It made me want to be a better mom to my kids, a better wife, a better daughter/sister/friend. As long as I live, I'll never forget their faces. It was a very real reminder of how blessed I truly am...
So with that -- the end of our day at Epcot. We stayed for a few more hours and took the kiddos on some more rides, and then went back to the hotel. Here's a picture of Caleb in his rightful place -- on my dad's shoulders as we made our way to the boat!
