Since we were stuck flying out of Cedar Rapids rather than Des Moines because of flight schedules, we had to get up pretty early on Saturday morning and hit the road. I had been preparing Katherine for a "go to bed super early" kind of night on Friday, and she was soooo excited. She couldn't wait to get into bed!! Gotta love that!
We woke up the kids shortly before 6, and they both jumped up singing. I was shocked at what good moods they were in! It was a dream come true! We swung by my parent's house to pick them up, and then met up with my sister and crew in Altoona on the way to the airport.
Caleb was beside himself with excitement when we got to the airport. He was in awe of the airplanes -- and the "big gas trucks" that filled them up. I'm not sure which was the bigger highlight! LOL.
My little man decided that sitting in his stroller wasn't cool, so he hopped on my dad's suitcase and was toted around the airport in style! He was so cute, and loving all the attention of everyone looking at him! Here's the boys shortly after we arrived.
The girls -- Hannah, Katherine and Morgan waiting for the plane to start boarding.
Let's be honest ... they could only sit still for so long before Katherine had to bust out the gymnastics moves. She was doing cartwheels and round offs in the middle of the aisles having a grand ol' time. Morgan decided that she too, should give gymnastics a try and we all had a good laugh. She couldn't do a cartwheel so save her life, so she invented this half cartwheel half break dancing move. It was hilarious! If only I had a video of it!! The best part was watching Caleb trying to copy it.
Here are the girls watching the planes take off and land. They kept waiting for ours to land and were thrilled when they finally saw it pull up to the gate.
Caleb and my dad... See that book they're holding? That's one of the 4 truck books that my dad read countless times over the week.... They started reading it in the airport on the way down, and didn't stop until he feel asleep on the plane on the way home.
My dad and Caleb watching the planes (and gas trucks) pull up to the gates.
I ended up bringing Caleb's car seat on the plane in hopes that he'd sit in it (and hopefully sleep) for a while before we landed. When Matt and I went to buckle him in, he starting throwing a holy fit... kicking, screaming, crying, the works. It wasn't pretty. People around us were starting to complain rather loudly. So what did I do??? Lied. I lied to the stewardess. If you have a child over 2, they must be in their own seat. Fine in theory, but when the two year old is screaming to sit on his Pop-pops lap, and making everyone on the plane want to throw rotten eggs at you, you do what you have to... I didn't want to have to physically constrain Little Man for 2.5 hours, and everyone on the plane certainly didn't want to listen to it, so I told the stewardess that yes we did buy him a seat, but he wasn't quite yet two. Go ahead and let me have it... I can handle it!! LOL. What I couldn't handle was having a full on tantrum that lasted for 2 hours in a small confined space miles off the ground.
As soon as we got the hotel we ditched our bags and headed straight for Epcot. We were only there for about 4 hours, but it was still nice for the kids to be able to get out and run! The favorite ride of the night was Test Track. My dad hung with Caleb while everyone else went on the fan favorite. OH. MY. HEAVENS. Katherine LOOOOVED this ride. You ride in a test car through bumps, bends, twists, quick stops and then make your way outside where you go 0 to 60 in a matter of seconds. Such a great ride!
When we got back to the hotel room, we gave the kids baths, and got them ready for bed. Katherine, Caleb and Morgan cuddled up in bed and relaxed for a while. Yes, that's a truck book that Caleb insisted Morgan read to him! The girls are wearing matching Ariel jammies that Grammy bought them before the trip.
So day one was a wonderful start to our fun filled week.
Posting more pics soon.....

I lOVE Caleb on the suitcase. I wish I could get Jeff to tote me around like that!!
I think I might have lied about his age too! But good grief, he's a baby, people should cut them some slack.
