Wow... It's been 10 years. A whole decade. Yesterday Matt and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary, and it's amazing to look back and see how much our lives have changed during this time. He's been through 5 jobs plus a self imposed unemployment stint, three homes, two kids and one more on the way, a dog, multiple cars, trips, and tons of laughter and tears along the way. It's been a great 10 years, and we have a lot to celebrate.
A decade ago, we honestly thought we'd be celebrating our 10 year anniversary with a two week trip in either in Europe or Hawaii, but instead I'm 8 months pregnant and a trip like that is totally out of the question. Besides who knew then that I'd be days away from sending my first born off on a new adventure. She'll be starting Kindergarten, and I'd never leave her during our last few days together before she starts school.
So, last night we got a babysitter, and went out to dinner. Since my parent's weren't around, we had Holly (who was their second EVER babysitter) watch them. She's taken Katherine's pictures since she was a new baby, and used to nanny triplets, so I thought it'd be fine, and thankfully it was. Woo-Hoo!! Matt made reservations at a restaurant that we used to go to back in the day. When we got there at 6:15 on Friday night, we quickly realized that it was only us and one other party... The place was dead and the menu wasn't great anymore either. So Matt left some money on the table and told the waitress that the menu wasn't exactly what we'd hoped and that we were leaving....
We ended up going to one of our fave places and having a super yummy dinner. I have to say, it was so nice being husband and wife for a couple hours rather than mommy and daddy. Inevitably, the conversation turned back to the kids, but it was nice to get out for a while. I was soooo looking forward to dessert, but since I couldn't even eat a third of my entree, we decided to head over to the mall as I had to run a quick errand. I went nuts at Gymboree for Katherine earlier that day, but they didn't have the jeans I wanted to get her in a size 4, so we had to hit another mall. On the way out, we stopped at Cheesecake Factory and picked up a piece of cheesecake to go. I was still to full to eat it last night, but man.... it made for a super yummy treat today! LOL.
Today we just hung out as a family. Matt filled up the pool and put out the slip and slide for the kids. We had lunch on the patio, and had a great morning and afternoon. After naps today, we went out to dinner with my parents. Nothing too exciting to report. Just a great relaxing weekend.
