Another milestone passed....

AAAHHHH, yes..... My baby girl has reached yet another milestone in her life. Yet another rite of passage crossed. Another wish granted in her young life....

She has been begging to have her ears pierced for quite some time. I'd been putting it off and really thought that she should wait for at least another year or two. But, after many conversations, she's convinced me that she's ready. She knew it would hurt. She knew that regardless of how much she may regret it, once one ear was pierced, I'd make her do the other one. There was NO turning back. She was fully prepared.

So yesterday after church we took her to the mall to Club Libby Lu, which is a little girl's dream store. It's totally girly and packed full of "must haves" for any little princess. Katherine was in her element. She was in shopping heaven!!

She picked out the "perfect" set of light pink heart crystal earrings and sat right up in the chair. They put her hair up (with plenty of sparkle hairspray), cleaned her ears off, measured off where'd they'd put the holes with military precision, and then shot them both through at the same time. I took a bazillion pictures, but (yet again) can't upload them on this new computer as I haven't installed PSE. I promise to do it soon though! It HAS to be done before the baby arrives. Yes, one more thing on my "must do" list!!

I was shocked at what a big girl she was. I fully expected some tears. I expected her to chicken out and make them wait... But no... not my Katherine. She sat there as still as could be and looked straight at me -- and the camera.

BUT, she caught me.... For the record, I'm going to blame it on the hormones, but not every eye was dry. I sat there, kneeling beside her with tears running down my face. What on earth is WRONG with me? Yes, it must be the hormones.... or the realization that my baby girl really isn't a "baby" anymore.... UUUUUUGH!
