Matt left for Windsor yesterday - it's right across the Canadian border from Detroit -- for his week long CFA prep class. He gets back into Des Moines Friday night, right in time to make the Sesame Street Live performance at 7 pm. We're all looking forward to it. 8 days is a really long time to be without daddy. I'm sure by the time next Friday rolls around I'll be exhausted!
Sometime this week, I'm heading to Suite Dreams to get both of the kids a Gund Sesame Street character to bring to the show with us. Caleb has a Big Bird and Cookie Monster, but I thought I'd add to the collection and get them both a new stuffed character to bring to the show. I'm hoping they have Grover as the show is Super Grover something.... And I'm sure Katherine will pick out Elmo. She loves him! LOL.
As soon as the kids wake up from their naps, we are heading to Todd and Caroline's house for dinner. I made this brownie tart for dessert. It's in the oven now, and I'm really hoping it turns out well. I had to make something quick and easy, because with two kids trying to "help" me, speed is the name of the game!! And Ina has the best recipes. They always turn out, so here's to hoping she doesn't let me down! LOL!!
With Matt gone this week, the kids and I are going to do a few projects. I'm going to take everything out from under the stairs in the basement and make it a play cove for them. We have extra carpet from finishing the basement, so I'm going to try and put that down too. I've never laid carpet, so wish me luck. I'm going to bring the kids to Sherman Williams and let them pick out some fun paint colors for the inside. We usually do a craft every day, but I'm hoping that we can call this a "craft" and all work on it together!

I love Sherwin Williams. What colors did you pick out? Are you going to take pictures of the "cove"? You know, Ben and John were all about forts growing up. Every blanket and sheet in the house, every book, every bookshelf would all be moved and used to create this "fort". I miss those days.
