MOM!!!!

How can the sweet sound of your baby's voice calling your name about bring you to tears??? We were just playing in the backyard... running around in the grass.... swimming in the pool and hearing my little Caleb call my name stopped me dead in my tracks and sent chills up my spine....

Caleb aged me about 10 years tonight... I'm not sure when it happened, but all of sudden, he started to call me "Mom". Not "Mommy" or "Momma". No... just "Mom". Katherine still calls me "Mommy", and my 21 month old son has decided he's too cool for that... Now I'm just "Mom". What???? I'm not old enough to be someone's mom.... I still want to be his "Mommy" or "Momma".... but no.... tonight HE decided that I'M just a MOM!!!

What's even more charming is that when he's done eating or his diaper is being changed he'll start chanting "all done MOM"! He's really starting to talk now, not just words, but small sentences. And when he doesn't know what to say, he'll just add some baby babble and keep going. It's so adorable. Now we just have to work on the MOM thing!

So tonight, since Rick and Matt were both gone for work functions, Danyel and I decided to get together for dinner and a little pool party. Earlier in the afternoon, I made a Target run so that the kiddos would have all sorts of cool pool toys, and they certainly took advantage of them. As soon as the kids saw the pool the dinner plans instantly got sidetracked. The kids immediately took the plunge so I ran to this great little Mexican restaurant and got super yummy take out for us all. Before we knew it, the backyard was filled with kids. Andrea brought the boys over and Jodi and Carrie brought their kids over. It was so much fun!!! I love summer!!

What's the party line on swim diapers? If it's just a 6.5 mo old and he's only in the pool 15 minutes, and you dump the water out...do you need swim diapers?
Come on, Mom.

Swim diapers... ALWAYS. The downside is too great. Imagine swimming in poop -- at that point age is irrelevant.

I know how you feel about little Will, but imagine this... We're visiting you in KC, Will is a couple of years old and we have an adorable 6 month old bundle of joy. I hope you'd insist that we put him/her in a swim diaper. And with little boys... 15 minutes in cold water is all it takes! LOL.
