Wow... it's been a week. We had a computer mishap, so I've been disconnected to the internet for almost a week now, and man.... it's been strange. No blogging, no emailing, no surfing my fave web pages, no editing pics, no computer usage at all. I think we finally have the problem fixed, and here's to hoping it doesn't happen again!
So here's a quick update on the happenings in our life --
1. When my nephew, Gus, was born, I suggested that Caleb give him his plug as a baby gift. After all, pacifiers are for babies, and Gus would be the perfect recipient. WRONG ANSWER! All this accomplished was making Caleb realize he wanted NOTHING to with Gus. Yea, nothing. He made it clear that he "didn't yikkke (like) Gus, didn't yikkke babies, didn't want to go to the hospital and didn't want to share his plug". Great! I really messed that one up!
Well..... fast forward to Monday. After preschool, we invited Nicholas and Caden over for lunch and to play for a while. Katherine is in LOOOOVE with their baby sister, McKenna, who was born on December 10th. She's this adorable little bundle of pink, and Katherine is smitten. After Katherine was done holding her, Caleb asked if he could hold her. I was shocked! Michelle put McKenna on his lap and he sat as still as could be with the biggest smile on his face. He kept saying, "I LOOVE her" and patting her little cheek as gently as he could. Then, when Michelle picked her up, he asked if he could kiss her, and wanted to make sure he planted one right on her lips. Oh, and after that, he kissed her a million times on the top of the head. Looks like Katherine isn't the only one who is smitten! Thank goodness we crossed that hurdle! LOL.
When Matt got home that night, he could wait to tell his daddy that he "held baby 'BAKENNA' and kiss and kiss and kiss and kiss her"! Oh happy day!
2. Katherine is turning into quite the little gymnastics diva. Literally. Today in class they were working on the parallel bars. They were holding onto the bar in an under grasp position and trying to pull their legs over the top of the bar so that their entire body was resting on top of it. Danyel -- I'm sure there's a name for this move, but I can't remember... Anyway, Mr. Terry is kneeling on the ground next to the bar so that he can help the girls maneuver their legs over the top. However, when it was Katherine's turn, he just let her go, and man did she struggle. She tried over and over again, each time she'd almost getting her body over the bar, but for some reason she kept wanting to move her hands and then would lose her grip. She struggled and tried with more determination that I've ever seen out of this child, and let me assure you that's saying something! Anyway, after class, Mr. Terry comes out to talk to me. Evidently, she's the only girl in the class that can almost pull herself over, and she's soooo close. We just need to work on her hands some more, and she'll be there. She has the strength to do it, but just doesn't get the hand grasp thing yet. Needless to say, he was REALLY impressed!
You know what Katherine was the most proud of??? The fact that she did a backward roll on her own!
3. I've finally settled on the location for Katherine's birthday party. We're going to have it the weekend of March 15th (Saturday) from 1-3 at Backyard Adventures. They recommend a party with 20 kids or so, but it's only because they have 20 chairs in the party room. If 35 or 40 show up, it's fine with them. The fee to reserve the place remains the same, unlike The Playground For Kids, which charges an extra $10/kid over 20. Oh, and I can bring in any pizza I want, but if I get it from Dominos it's only $8/large. I'm not sure I've ever had Dominos, but $8 is a deal, compared to the $17/large Playground was going to charge. And it's WAY closer to our house, the preschool, and all of our other friends we'd invite. So, I think it's perfect!
4. Oh what else?!?!?!? Caleb has had rough week health wise... Friday night we went out for ice cream at Cold Stone with the Launderville's and then over to their house to play for a while... I'm not sure what brought it on, but all of a sudden Caleb came up to me, put his head on my lap and puked all over their couch. Fun times!! It was a once and done, so I'm pretty sure he didn't have the flu, but I felt TERRIBLE!
Then, on Tuesday night he started coughing up a lung and wheezing, so I took him into Dr. Jon, and not only did he have a lung infection but strep throat to boot. Who knew? So we're on nebs, a decongestant and an antibiotic. YUCK!
5. Tomorrow Andrea is going to watch my kiddos for a while, so I can go to lunch with the work girls. I can't wait! I'm so excited to see them and catch up. We're either going to the Olive Garden or this yummy local Mexican place that I LOVE!! Either way, I can't wait! Good eats and great friends. What could be better???
