I know about boys.... or so I thought -- I've dated them, I've been friends with them, -- heck I even married married one... But there's something about boys that still mystifies me. It's as if everyone in the world is in on a big inside joke, and I'm the ONLY one who's not laughing...
Last year I bought Caleb some summer clothes so that he'd have them for this year as soon as the weather got nice. On the way to the zoo this morning I pulled out a spiffy new outfit for him. I thought it was sooo cute -- a navy blue polo and the trendy plaid shorts. I bought a size 18 months, because well .. he's 18 months. Seems logical, huh?? Nope! All mom's of little boys know that they have to buy their sons a size smaller in the pants. Poor Caleb -- he looked like he was wearing plaid capris. In fact, you couldn't see any leg between his "shorts" and his socks. Not a good look!! LOL! Apparently I missed the memo, because he's got enough 18 months shorts to outfit a small army! Here's to hoping they fit next summer!
We went to the zoo this morning. The weather was gorgeous -- it was such a great day to spend outside. However, I wasn't able to take that many pictures because basically the entire zoo was under construction. HELLO! Couldn't they have done any construction work 30* ago?? Again, too logical for me... Instead they decide to do it all when kids are there on field trips right before the school year lets out. That's a good idea! Shut down half the zoo when bus loads of kids are going to want to see the animals. Perfect!
Here's a picture of the kids and I. For those familiar with the Des Moines zoo, I was hoping to get a picture on the bridge, but yes... that too was under construction! And please notice Caleb's legs -- it was the only time they saw the sun all day!
One of the "construction projects" was tearing out the huge trees in the middle of the zoo. Apparently they are adding a new exhibit and moving the monkeys further away from the grill and snack bar. Here a picture of Katherine and Ben watching the tree being cut down. The tree they were in the process of cutting down was the large one directly to the left of Ben. What I wouldn't give for that tree in my yard!
As soon as Katherine and Caleb wake up from their naps, we are heading over to my parents house for dinner. Mom went to pick up my Grandma from the nursing home this afternoon, so I'm really looking forward to spending some quality time with her. She hasn't been eating much lately, so we're going to get her her favorite take-out for dinner!

Can I just say that even as an adult, I have these issues with shorts and pants. Waaaaaay too long! May capris NEVER go out of style.
Good to know about the pants. That seems right though, b/c Will has a 3-6 mo belly and 0-3 month legs. I thought it was just that he took after his Grandpa.

That's because you don't have the tank that lives at my house! LMAO Hello 3T at 19 months!! Crazy. I'm never buying clothes in advance again, I get it wrong every time!
