My poker face needs some work!

I must confess... There are days that it's so hard for me to keep my game face on. I know I *should* be stern with Caleb -- correcting him, trying to teach him right from wrong, but man... it's hard sometimes. There are times that all I want to do is just sit and laugh with him. Today was one of those days....

I have no idea where he learned this from, but all of a sudden, Caleb has been taking small sips of beverage, lowering his chin to his chest and letting out this obnoxious, super loud fake belching noise. It couldn't be more disgusting! Then he looks up at you, smiles and says, ESKUSE ME!! It's as hilarious as it is disgusting!

Whenever he does this (which is pretty much every time he's got a drink in hand) I look at him right in the eye and talk in my sternest voice. I'm really trying to keep my game face on and impress on his that this behavior is NOT acceptable. But holy cow, it's soooo funny! I know.... I know... how mature is it that a 32 year old finds fake belching from her 2 year old son funny? Don't answer that!

Then he looks up at me with this little twinkle in his eye and a grin on his face... He knows that he's supposed to say "Excuse me" and thinks that if he does, it's all good. There are times I have to turn away... I just can't help myself. I can't let him see me laugh... And it certainly doesn't help that Katherine is busting a gut! To make matters worse, she's caught me laughing a time or two (or twenty) when he's not looking... I'm definitely going to have to try and capture this behavior on tape.

Well, this little act is one thing in the comfort of our own home, but out in public... yea, not so much... Matt took the kids to LeMars this weekend, and I forgot to call and warn his parents about this little behavior. From what I'm told, they all went out to eat in Sioux City and Caleb got a glass of milk. As I could only imagine, he pulled out the fake burping routine. Matt reported back that it didn't take him long to empty the entire cup. I am soooo proud!

I'd probably have a hard time not laughing too at the fake belching.
