It's one of those random days... I've had so many things that I've wanted to blog about, but each time I sit down at the computer my mind goes blank. So a random, rambling blog is all you get! LOL.
1. Katherine has been singin' loud and singin' proud these days. She's got a new a favorite song, and has been beltin' it out for anyone and everyone who'll listen! Anyone want to take a guess what song has invaded our world??? You wouldn't guess right in a million years so I'll just clue you in.... the Greek alphabet! That's right, Katherine has been singing "Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Epsilon... (all the way through Omega) at the top of her lungs 24/7. What's so hilarious is that she actually gets the words (letters) right each time. I just have to chuckle... she sounds like such a little sorority girl.
2. My car has a new name. I have no idea why, but Katherine and Caleb have named my car "J.J." and each time one of them says it, they both break into hysterical laughter.... the belly clutching, tear jerking, gasping for breath, eyes tearing kind of laughter. I'm not sure it's THAT funny, but seeing them laugh like that gets me every time. I'm not sure you can hear a child laugh like that and not join them. So lately, I've been spending several minutes each day laughing with them about absolutely nothing at all. It's good for the soul!
3. The Science Center has a new exhibit and the kids looove it! We went downtown yesterday with Michelle, Nicholas and Caden and spent well over an hour in the new grossology exhibit. It's a little kids' wonderland. They have a slide for younger kids (you enter through the mouth and exit in the stomach and then can crawl through the intestines -- yuck), an air gun that shoots ping pong balls into "nostrils" and when you get a certain number of balls in, the nose sneezes them back at you, machines that make farting and burping sounds, pin ball machines, and so much more. I had a hard time pulling the kids out of that room! It's a good thing that lunch time was right around the corner! LOL.
4. I made 11 or 12 Boo Buckets and finally finished delivering them yesterday. This kids loved sneaking around and plotting how and when we'd deliver them. I hope everyone found them, and no one figures out that we were behind it!!
5. Katherine is in a tumbling class that she's not so thrilled with. It's not gymnastics -- only tumbling, so they don't work on the bars, beam or vault, and the skills they've worked on thus far, are VERY elementary -- such as the bunny hop, crab walk, cigar rolls, somersaults, etc. No cartwheels. No round offs. Katherine is bored. She wants to do more, so.... I called Chows. For anyone who doesn't know, Shawn Johnson trains at Chows, so I thought I'd call and get prices. Pretty expensive -- $52.50/4 weeks. After talking to Danyel, who used to be in competitive gymnastics, I called Urbandale Dance and Gymnastics -- they were $58/month. OUCH! Holy cow is that pricey!! Not to be cheap, but I don't know what to do. I'm already paying for preschool, kindermusik for BOTH kids, and ballet, tap and tumbling for Katherine. Thank goodness Caleb's storytime is FREE!! LOL! All of these kids activities are soooo pricey! On the other hand, she is always turning cartwheels and round offs in the living room and watches gymnastics almost every day on TV. (I TiVo'ed it for her and she's so addicted)! She wants to take gymnastics sooooo badly. So, we'll see.
6. Next Tuesday night is date night, and I'm soooo looking forward to it. We are going with 4 couples (some of the neighborhood crew) to Mrs. Trusslers for dinner. I know this probably sounds strange, but Mrs. Trussler is this woman who lives out in the country and cooks elaborate dinners every night for one party. You have to have a minimum of 8 people and everyone has the same menu, but it's such a wonderful, fun place. You sit at her formal dining room table, eat off her china/sterling and can bring your own wine. You can stay as long as you want, and it's such a "homey" experience. Oh, and did I mention it's a legendary??? She's booked out more than a year in advance. So, we're really looking forward to it. Typically it's just a girls thing, but this time we decided to invite the guys. Other than Matt, it's all of the other guys' first time. Should be a blast!!

Wow. Ok - I thought you and I already talked this over? You were supposed to start her at Chows or one of the gymnastics clubs. It's typical of me to assume that since "we" already discussed it that I would be flabergasted that you chose another route....LOL Anyway, dump the tumbling, dump dance, and let her do full blown gymnastics for a while. If she's bored, now is the time to get her going without learning any bad habits at another club. Ask her - do you want to try gymnastics for a while and not do dance? Anway, I am flabergasted that Katherine knows the Greek Alphabet and I don't. Geeeeeeeeeeeeeez.
